Description:


The Community Blood Center is seeking an experienced Team Leader/Supervisor for our Phlebotomy Collections Team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about leading and helping others! Our Team Supervisors of Phlebotomy are responsible for ensuring assigned team members perform their job functions in compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations and appropriate standards. They help foster and create a positive, collaborative, engaging working environment amongst their teams that in turn aides in delivering exceptional customer service to donors, sponsor organizations and the general public. This role will ensure assigned staff members are trained and competent to perform assigned duties. Collaboration with the Collections Leadership team and other Team Supervisors is key on many aspects, including improve environment, policies and procedures.


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Ensure your assigned team is appropriately performing designated functions in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. Compliance is of utmost importance in our industry.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, direction, coaching and discipline as appropriate and required in coordination with company policy and the Collections Leadership Team.

  • Write and conduct performance reviews; participate in the hiring process and training of new and promoted staff.

  • Perform all technical functions as designated under the Automation Specialist job description.

  • Function as leader of blood collection operations when designated, ensuring all pre-blood drive functions are appropriately completed, assign staff to duties throughout the blood drive, manage donor flow, coach staff and volunteers on appropriate functions and serve as a resource for donor eligibility questions or technical issues.

  • Ensure blood collection areas are maintained and well managed to ensure a clean and safe working environment.

  • Responsible for ensuring adequate equipment and supplies are available to the team to perform their job duties.

  • Assist in Collections Quality Control functions including DRF review, performing follow-up discussions with staff as assigned, completing Correction Reports, performing audits, reviewing QC records, data sheets, and assisting with QC activities as requested.

  • Monitor team performance for compliance with SOPs, operational and regulatory requirements.

  • Responsible for the performance of assigned team members to include technical competencies as well as attendance, teamwork, compliance, flexibility, customer service and blood collection operation performance.

  • Accountable for the career development of assigned staff members to include skill development and coaching.

  • Maintain applicable documentation and promptly notify the Assistant Manager for assistance.

  • Provide adequate staffing levels for scheduled collection activities by appropriately responding to and covering call-ins during on-call shifts, working with other team leaders and supervisors as needed.

  • Contribute to process improvement projects and other projects related to the department as assigned by Supervisory staff.


Qualifications:


Education: High School Diploma or equivalency is required, post-secondary education is highly desirable


Experience:



  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in a blood center or related environment, or equivalent related progressive experience

  • Prior supervisory experience and skills are highly desirable

  • Ideally prior experience coaching, leading and mentoring others

  • Prior training and competency in Whole Blood and Apheresis phlebotomy collections is desired

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service, ideally prior experience in customer service related role

  • Skilled in the performance of operational tasks

  • High level organizational skills required, ability to manage time and others effectively

  • Skilled in accurate documentation, strong detail orientation

  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
